Predict: DECT and WiFi simulation

Use Predict to run DECT and WiFi simulations before installation.

JWaves predictive planning helps teams estimate wireless coverage on floor plans before devices are mounted. It is designed for DECT simulation, WiFi simulation, wall-aware planning, and early validation of deployment assumptions.

Before You Start

  • create a project
  • upload at least one floor plan
  • set the floor plan scale
  • know whether the project is DECT or WiFi
  • collect the expected base station or access point locations

Create A Prediction

  1. Open the project.
  2. Select the floor you want to simulate.
  3. Confirm that the scale is set.
  4. Add the DECT base stations or WiFi access points.
  5. Set relevant device properties such as height, model, power, or antenna.
  6. Add or review walls and attenuation properties.
  7. Save the project.

Generate The Heatmap

  1. Make sure the expected base stations or access points are enabled.
  2. Run the prediction.
  3. Review the RSSI heatmap on the floor plan.
  4. Adjust walls, device positions, or device properties if the predicted coverage does not match the expected design.

Prepare For Verification

Use prediction before installation to identify likely weak zones, then verify the design onsite with measured survey data.

The most useful prediction outputs before a site visit are:

  • expected weak coverage areas
  • base station or access point positions
  • walls with high RF impact
  • target locations for measured survey points

Troubleshooting

If the heatmap looks incorrect, check these items first:

  • floor scale is set correctly
  • devices are placed on the correct floor
  • expected devices are enabled
  • wall types and attenuation values are realistic
  • project was saved after the latest edits
